Unique ceramic cups from Stanislavs Vilums - Art in Every Sip

Experience the beauty of true craftsmanship with these unique, handmade cups from renowned Latvian ceramicist Stanislavs Vilums. Each cup is created with love in the Cukrasáta workshop in Latvia, where tradition meets art. With their changing black and silver finish and vibrant texture, each cup tells a story of fire, earth and artistic passion.

Why choose Stanislavs Vilums cups?

These cups are more than beverages - they are works of art that elevate your coffee or tea experience:

About the artist Stanislavs Vilums

Born in 1968 in Rēzekne region, Latvia, Stanislavs Vilums has dedicated his life to the art of ceramics. Trained as an art pottery maker and awarded the title of Master of Folk Crafts (TDM) in 2000, he is a pioneer of reduced firing. Since 1990, he has been shaping his pieces on the potter's wheel and firing them with live fire, without industrial technologies. His creations have been exhibited in countries such as Latvia, Norway, Germany and Australia and adorn private collections worldwide. As a co-founder of "Pūdnīku skūla" and a member of "Rēzeknes apriņķa pūdnīki", Stanislavs has contributed to preserving and developing Latvian ceramic art.

Cukrasáta - Where tradition becomes art

In the heart of rural Latvia lies Cukrasáta, the workshop of Stanislav and his wife Solvita, where age-old pottery traditions come to life. Here, each cup is shaped either by hand or on the potter's wheel and fired in a wood-fired kiln. The unique reduction process creates the cups' characteristic black and silver finish, with the unpredictable dance of the fire adding life and depth. The result is a cup that is not just a utility piece, but a piece of art with soul.

A cup with character

Each cup carries a subtle smoky scent from the roast, which some compare to freshly milked milk or new leather. This odour gradually fades with use and washing, but adds an authentic dimension. The unglazed surface absorbs scents from coffee, tea or apples over time, making each cup a personalised companion that develops its own story.

Maintenance

To preserve the unique qualities of the cups, we recommend hand washing. The cups are treated with edible olive oil, which makes them water-repellent and easy to maintain. Dishwasher safe at low temperatures, but high temperatures can eventually remove the natural protective layer.
